Fattoush Salad Recipe

Fattoush is a Mediterranean salad especially made with toasted pita bread. It is originated in Northern Lebanon. It is said that the farmers use to fry the leftover bread in a bit of oil. They use to put these fried/baked bread in the season vegetables and whatever herbs available with them. Fattoush salad recipe mostly includes lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish, parsley, bell pepper in addition to other vegetables available. I also like to add scallions it gives a good taste to the salad. Here’s the most important part, the zesty dressing. Just toss all the vegetables in a bowl lash up with the classic dressing. INGREDIENTS FOR FATTOUSH SALAD

For the baking pita bread

  1. 2 Pita bread
  2. 2 tablespoon olive oil
  3. Salt to taste

For Salad

  1. 2 Romaine’s hearts
  2. 1 Cucumber
  3. 2 cups cherry tomatoes
  4. 5 Scallions
  5. ½ cup Radish
  6. 1 Red bell pepper
  7. 2 Cups Parsley
  8. 1 Cup Mint

For Dressing

  1. ½ cup olive oil
  2. Lemon juice
  3. 1 tablespoon White wine vinegar
  4. 2 cloves garlic
  5. 2 teaspoon lemon zest
  6. ¼ all spices
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Pepper to taste

FATTOUSH SALAD RECIPE – PREPARATION METHOD

  1. Firstly, bake the pita bread by cutting it in half and brushing it with olive oil and sprinkle some salt.
  2. Secondly, In a large bowl combine chopped lettuce, cucumber, scallions, bell pepper, parsley, mint and slice radish, and cherry tomatoes.

For Dressing

  1. Finally, In a small bowl add all the above dressing ingredients and whisk it properly.
  2. Last but not least add the dressing to the salad along with pieces of pita bread and toss it well.
  3. And season with salt and black pepper.
  4. Transfer it in a small serving bowl. Enjoy!
